Mother's Day

The night before Mothers Day, Creag cooked us one of the best meals that I've probably ever had!  Steak Oscar, over top of mashed cauliflower.  It was so, so good & we loved every single bite.  Mothers Day was spent at the Reds Game with Yvonne, Dave, Mica, Tyler, Ellery, Willis & Michael.  We spent the day in the Suite & had a great time.  After the game, we picked up BBQ and had Mom & Dad over for dinner.  I'm so blessed to have a big family to celebrate with, a husband to make these holidays special for me & kids that I love more than anything.

Take Me Out To the Ballgame

There are only a few things better than baseball season.
There's just something about the fresh spring air.
Ballpark hot dogs, peanuts & cold drinks.
There's also the great feeling of watching your child playing a sport that he loves,
and beaming with pride when he gets a hit or catches a fly ball.

Bouncing Back & Forth

Well I've decided that too much has happened for me to just post from here on out, so I'm gonna bounce around for a bit.  It's ok that yesterday I posted about December & today I'm bouncing back to September/Octoberish right?  Good.  Rainbow Looms were all the rage for quite awhile with Skylar.  She self taught herself from You Tube & make quite a few of really cute bracelets!

We spent another Reds Game in a Suite & this time my BFF & her Boyfriend Scott came along.  We went out afterwards & I actually ended up drunk girl crying in the cab on the way home.  I miss my Bestie sooooo much and wish I could see her more often :*(

I found this Banana Fluffer Nutter Recipe somewhere online & had to  make it!  Tortilla's, Peanut Butter, Bananas, Marshmallows & Chocolate Chips!  Place it in a skillet until it gets warm & then fold it over like a quesadilla.  You really can't go wrong with all of that.  So, so good!  We also had a few visits for Fro Yo.  We all love our Frozen Yogurt.  Who doesn't?

We also went to the Monday Night Football Game against Pittsburgh & WON!

Skylar finished off another great Soccer Season & we, or should I say I, started slowly decorating for Fall.

Tonight is Hank's Football Banquet, and tomorrow we have fun things planned, so hopefully I'll be back Monday with a recap.

Let's Take it Back a Few

I swear I'm going to get back into posting on the regular, and I'm gonna start now!  I'm not too, too far behind, but there are a few things that I don't want to miss out on posting about, so I have to rewind a little bit today.  I know I've been doing this a lot lately and I'll try harder from now on, promise!

A few weekends ago, we went on a pretty eventful bike ride on Saturday morning.  Creag had to run quite a distance, so we decided to put the kids bikes in the car & go to Lunken Airport to hang out for a bit while he ran.  Skylar ended up taking her bike and riding along w/ Creag while he ran and I took the boys on what I thought was going to be just about a mile and a half ride.

Wrong!  The ride, I swear ended up being about 6 miles!  We took a wrong turn & I got us lost which is why I usually never venture off anywhere by myself.  The boys did great though & really never complained.  There were a few pee breaks along the way and we saw a few deer which was really cool!  It turned into a fun morning with the boys!  Afterwards, we headed to Mellow Mushroom for lunch to load back up on our carbs, then after lunch, we headed back home to get ready for the Reds Game that we were going to that evening.  We had a sitter coming over from Silverlake to watch the kids which was a first & ended up going really well.

This was our second time in a Suite for a game this season, the first being Opening Day which was our Anniversary.  We had 6 tickets so we took two couples on our street.  Phil & Becky & Mike & Tami.  We had a BLAST!  All you can eat & drink is never a bad thing.  All of the ladies, including myself about died when they brought in the dessert cart.  Killer Brownies from Dorothy Lane Market...the best chocolate covered strawberries I've ever had...shots of Godiva Liquor in souvenir shot glasses, OMG it was amazing!  We went by The Yard House which is a new restaurant at The Banks after the game & then took a cab home for a little late night swimming at Phil & Becky's.  Creag actually threw me in the pool fully clothed when I wasn't expecting it.  Swimming fully clothed is definitely a first for me!  It was definitely a great night!

Tournaments

Last Wednesday, Hank was cleared by his ENT to play baseball, just in time for the end of the season tournaments.  His first game was Thursday evening at 6PM and they won 13-3!!  They advanced and also played Friday night under the lights at 8PM.  There's just something about a night baseball game under the lights and we were so excited to watch him play.  We got a little bit of rain on the way to the game, but it stopped & he was so relieved that they got to play.  He hates when they have rain outs and they had their fair share of them this year for sure!

Creag & I were there to cheer him on, obviously, along with Nana & Papaw, Mamaw Bert & his Dad.  Friday's game was a close one, but they ended up losing by a run or two.  The tournament was a 2 & out, so their next game was Saturday morning at 10.  The boys were tired and unfortunately lost that one too.  It was a great season.  Hank really improved & made a lot of great plays & we're very proud of the little athlete that he's becoming.  On to Football he goes!

Let's Talk Recovery

The recovery process for you, little man has had it's ups & downs.  It'll be 1 week tomorrow since you had your tonsils removed, so I'm going to talk about days 1-4 post surgery.  Surgery day was probably the least painful day for you.  We were told that you'd probably sleep a lot once we got you home, but that didn't happen.  You dosed off for a bit after you had your first dose of pain medication & you had some ice cream.  Seems like as soon as you finally fell asleep, you started getting visitors.  Your Dad & Mamaw Burt stopped by for about 15 minutes with a milk shake & then left because they wanted you to get some rest.  You didn't fall back asleep after they left.  You actually never took another nap.  About an hour after your Mamaw & Dad left, Mamaw & Papaw came over with your brothers & sister with cards, balloons & 20.00 for you to spend on whatever you wanted.  You opted to have Creag put it in your Savings Acct.  We grilled out that night and I ended up making everyone go outside so you could get some sleep.

The next morning, Day 2 was probably the worst.  You got a very good nights sleep.  You didn't wake up until close to 10 and your throat was VERY dry & sore.  You wouldn't drink at first because it burned your throat & I remember you crying and saying "This is the worst thing ever."  I was pretty helpless and felt very bad for you, but was able to finally get you to drink & take your pain meds to help with the pain.  You ate a little bit on day 2, but not much.  Maybe 1-2 scoops of ice cream & a bite of mac & cheese.  Later that day/night, you were feeling a little better & we were getting a little antsy so I asked if you wanted to get out for a bit and you said yes.  You wanted to go to the movies so we went to see Iron Man 3.  Good thing the tickets were only $5.00 that night instead of $14.00 because you only lasted about 15 minutes & wanted to leave because your throat hurt & you were sleepy so we went back home & took it easy for the remainder of the night.

Day 3, was pretty much the same as Day 2, with you eating as little as possible.  I could tell the lack of nutrition was taking a toll on you, but you had no appetite.  We got out of the house for a bit that evening & that kind of helped you.  You finally had a bath this night.  Your hair was sticky from sweat & we both laughed at how disgusting it was.  After your bath, Creag was gone, so we cuddled in my bed & watched the Spurs/Heat playoff game.

Day 4, which was a Friday, I went back to work & Creag's mom came over to watch you.  You guys laid around all day.  She made you a chocolate shake out of the homemade ice-cream that her & Sammie had made you & you guys watched the video of the Helicopter Ride in Hawaii & some of the Never Ending Story.  That night, after you still weren't eating, Creag & I decided that you needed out of the house.  You'd been cooped up for way too long so he bought 3 tickets to the Red's Game in the all you can eat Club Section.  We knew this would get you to eat & we were right.  You were tired walking in, so Creag gave you a shoulder ride.  We got to the cafeteria area & you decided to start with fruit to eat.  Oranges (which was supposedly the worst thing you could eat because of the acid) & grapes.  I judged the oranges by your expression & you didn't flinch so I let you go with it.  You did great with those & I think it instantly gave you the energy that you needed.  After the fruit, you had soft pretzels & cheese & then had an ice-cream sandwich.

This was exactly what you needed & I'm so glad we took you.  You made it through the entire game & got to see Jay Bruce's walk off homer.  I know you wanted to yell but refrained!  And then we sat through fireworks at the ballpark.  It was such a fun time with just you.  You crashed in the car & Creag carried you up to bed & you slept through the night like a champ!  BTW, you were the first & only kid so far to sit in Club Seats...bragging rights, buddy!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Tuesday my work had 4 extra tickets to the Reds/Rockies Game, so I entered the drawing for them & won!  I was pretty excited because it was a beautiful day & we had nothing planned for the night.  Perfect, right?  I met Creag & Sammie at home after work and we had a quick bite to eat & then headed to the Stadium.  There's something about watching a game under the lights on a warm night in the Summer that I just love.

I wasn't a huge baseball fan before Creag & I started dating.  I guess you could say I married into it, because now it's one of my favorite things to do ;)  A ballpark hot dog or a slice of Larosa's Pizza with a beer is my kind of date night!  It also helps A LOT that the kids enjoy going too.  It's a funny thing now that Hank is so into watching Baseball & playing ball, that I find myself picturing him as a Major Leaguer.  While we were watching the game, I was wondering to myself if the players Mom's still get stressed out every time they're up to bat just like little league.  Because I'm telling you, when Hank steps up to the plate I get so nervous for him!  Every time, I swear I get knots in my stomach because I know how important it is for him to play well.  He doesn't like to strike out, and I tell him he can't hit it every time, but he still wants to.  And because he wants to, I want him too.  I'm his number one fan and he's so passionate about the game, I hope to see him go far!

Life Lately

Not too much has been going on the past couple of weeks.  Schools out and Soccer & Baseball are wrapping up so here & there, we've been getting small projects done around the house and marked off of our list.  We got the plants in our flower bed in the front yard transplanted & looking the way we want them to & got material over the weekend to close off our deck in the back.  Creag got a little bit of it finished on Saturday evening while I mulched and then we took a break to go across the street for a bit.  We've also gotten one bid and are waiting on another to expand our driveway & add a patio in the back so we're excited to possibly get that done!

In the busy extra-curricular activity world, Sammie had her last Soccer game the Saturday before last & Wyatt's last game was last Tuesday.  They were both excited to get their medals!  Poor Skylar didn't get one for some reason.  Her coach had mentioned a cookout so maybe she'll get it then?

Select Soccer tryouts for Skylar have been cancelled due to lack of interest, so she'll be playing rec again this fall & Wyatt loved soccer this go around & did really well so I'm sure we'll be signing him up again.  Sammie has decided to take a break this fall & focus on Dance & possibly Gymnastics again.  We have a few months of not thinking about that, though.  Tonight's Hank's last baseball game before his fishing trip with Creag this weekend & his surgery so we're both looking forward to that!  Depending on how far his make-up games are scheduled out, he may miss the rest of the season.

We've also spent a little bit of time at the pool & hope to get there a lot more often this Summer!  It's been a little chilly & very rainy so far this Summer so hopefully this weekend while Hank & Creag are fishing, the rest of us can hang at the pool.  We'll keep our fingers crossed!

Weekend Recap

Friday night, we laid low and just hung out around the house.  I did a little cleaning and Springing up the place & then we went across the street to our neighbors for a bit.

Saturday morning into mid-afternoon, we were busy with games.  Hank had his game at 11 at a field that was about 35-40 minutes away and then Skylar's soccer game was at 12:45 and it took just as long to get to the field she was playing at!

Their Grandma took the kids back to Dayton with her because it was their weekend with their Dad and Creag & I stopped at the Pub for a Bloody Mary and a light lunch.  As always it did not disappoint.  We went with a Scotch Egg & their Spring Rolls and it was delicious!

After lunch, we were wishing for a nap, but instead got cleaned up and went to Creag's parents.  Sammie's Dance Recital was at 7:00, so they invited us over for dinner beforehand.  Dave made Grouper topped w/ Crab Meat, Rice, and Veggies on the grill and it was awesome.  Really hit the spot, for sure.  After dinner, we made our way to the Hilton and checked into our hotel.  We were meeting some friends after the recital and decided to make a night of it in Cincy.  Sam's Recital went well.  She did a tap number to Hey Georgy and looked so cute & grown up.  Her hair was done in an up-do and she had make-up on.  Creag didn't know what to think and was in awe of how pretty she looked!

After the recital, we met up with Amy & Scott and walked over to Fountain Square.  They had a live band playing for awhile and beer & food stands set up for a fund raiser.  Our second stop was Cincy's where we saw Marvin Lewis.  He was pretty hammered so that was interesting to see.  Our last stop of the night was the Dueling Piano Bar that I love, The Penguin.  We closed the bar down and it was such a fun night!  I love hanging out with my Bestie and wish we could do it more often.  Amy took all of the pictures, so I had to rob them off of her Instagram and Facebook!

Sunday, we spent most of the day doing yard work.  When the kids got home on Sunday night, we went out for Mexican & then Ice Cream.

Today was field day at the kids school & after today, they only have 2 days left!!  Come on Summer!
