Skylar Lately

I can't believe that my first born is in her last year of Elementary School!  It's insane how fast she is growing & how much her personality & looks change on a monthly basis.  I can only say that I really hope to enjoy the next few years with her because before I know it, she'll be off to college!

She had an all day field-trip to Frankfort Kentucky to visit the State Capital.  She was shocked when she saw the sizes of the busses there to transport them.  I was a little sad to see her go, even if it was only from 8-5.

She had D.A.R.E. at school this year & Creag & I were lucky enough to see her Graduate!  She really enjoyed it & I hope she keeps what she's learned in the back of her mind as the Peer Pressure of Drugs and Alcohol start in Jr. High & High School.

She played Basketball for the first time through school this fall/winter.  She improved weekly & has decided that this is her new "sport" that she wants to play along w/ gymnastics & cheer.  We'll see how long it lasts!  She tends to change her mind a lot, which is okay but we've told her that it's time to choose what she wants to play & stick with it.  We were disappointed that she didn't choose Soccer because I think that best suits her, but it's her choice & we have to support it.  If she finds just one thing that she's passionate about & really, really loves, we'll be happy.  She's also the perfect mix of athlete and girly-girl.  She wore make-up to her first Basketball Game.  Girlfriend cracks me up!

Since she's decided to pursue Cheer, she's started Private Gymnastics Lessons 3 times a week to catch up with the other girls that she'll be trying out against in Middle School.  I hope she catches on quick & wish her the best of luck.  She's a little nervous about the try-out process, but I think she'll do fine!

Still Playing Catch-Up
October Randoms

This should sum up October,
except for a separate post on Sammie's 7th Birthday & Halloween!

Dinner w/ Hank at Bucca Di Beppos.
He'd never seen a Dude in a Speedo before....

Creag & I had the day to ourselves, so we stopped off at a Fall Festival.
Creag napped some while we were there.

We bought our pumpkins & a few cornstalks for the porch.

Hank had his Football Party at Ollies to close the Season.

Skylar begged me to cut her bangs!

Take 2 is a little better...

It started getting dark early, so we had a few Soccer Practices in the dark.

Date Night out.
Yuengling Battered Shrimp was amazing!!

Skylar got out of school for Jaw Pain & ended up coming to work with me for the day.

Some of our Flowers.
Man I can't wait for these again!!

2 Goals for Skylar at her last Soccer Game!

And I had a proud Mama moment when a parent recognized
Skylar for standing up for her son against bullying at school.

October was obviously a pretty good month, full of fun & good food!

Fun Times Call for a Post

Last weekend, Hank finally received his trophy for his first Football Season as a Raider!  His season ended in late October, so it definitely was a long time coming.  The Banquet was originally scheduled for early December, but due to weather, it was cancelled & rescheduled at a much later date.  It was held at Dixie High School & they had pizza, drinks & desserts.  It was a fun experience, especially to see the older players get their last trophy as a Raider.  It'll be fun to be a part of the organization for many years, up until Hank moves onto Middle School Football!

Brayden, one of Hank's friends came home with us to spend the night, Creag was out of town and Wyatt went to bed early so Sky & I had a girls night.  We watched a movie & had popcorn.  It was definitely nice to spend that time with her.  She's growing up way too fast!!

Saturday we had plans with some friends to do a Pub Crawl.  First stop was the Skating Rink.  Creag was super jealous of my Skating skills.  We were really dreading skating, but ended up having a really good time.

We made a few other stops & ended up cutting out early to get back home to the kiddos.  We're really too old to close the bars down anyway!

Tonight, Creag's cooking up a German Dinner & tomorrow we're throwing Skylar her 11th Birthday Party!

Bouncing Back & Forth

Well I've decided that too much has happened for me to just post from here on out, so I'm gonna bounce around for a bit.  It's ok that yesterday I posted about December & today I'm bouncing back to September/Octoberish right?  Good.  Rainbow Looms were all the rage for quite awhile with Skylar.  She self taught herself from You Tube & make quite a few of really cute bracelets!

We spent another Reds Game in a Suite & this time my BFF & her Boyfriend Scott came along.  We went out afterwards & I actually ended up drunk girl crying in the cab on the way home.  I miss my Bestie sooooo much and wish I could see her more often :*(

I found this Banana Fluffer Nutter Recipe somewhere online & had to  make it!  Tortilla's, Peanut Butter, Bananas, Marshmallows & Chocolate Chips!  Place it in a skillet until it gets warm & then fold it over like a quesadilla.  You really can't go wrong with all of that.  So, so good!  We also had a few visits for Fro Yo.  We all love our Frozen Yogurt.  Who doesn't?

We also went to the Monday Night Football Game against Pittsburgh & WON!

Skylar finished off another great Soccer Season & we, or should I say I, started slowly decorating for Fall.

Tonight is Hank's Football Banquet, and tomorrow we have fun things planned, so hopefully I'll be back Monday with a recap.

Well He Made It

He as in WE all made it through our first season of Pee Wee Football.  It was a BIG commitment & a lot of hard work, but Hank made it through the season like a champ.  Sure, there were days that he wasn't feeling the 1.5-2 hour practice but he pushed through it and did really well.

He played Center & Safety most of the year & even though I know those aren't really the positions that he's meant to play I know that he has to earn the spots that he desires & will do well at once he gets there.  With his speed and build, I know he would do well at Running Back & Wide Receiver which are the positions that he wants to play.  At the beginning of the season, the focus just wasn't there, so he got moved from Running Back to Center which is fine his first year.  He got the game a little more each week, and had a few really good Defensive games.

He had a few tournament games which were held pretty late at night for a second grader & he got to wear pink to benefit Breast Cancer for the month of October.  His last game of the season, which was this past Sunday he ran the ball for the first time!  He recovered a fumble and ran it for about 40 yards!  I was so happy for him I could hardly stand it.  I hope to see a lot more of that kind of playing from him next season, because I know he'll be back and I know he could be a great Receiver & Running Back!!

Hank, we are so proud of the way you handled yourself all season.  We weren't sure how you'd take all of the hits & physical beat downs that you can get from Football.  Honestly, I wasn't sure if I could handle it either, but we both did OK :)  So far, you love the game and we're so happy that you're so active & enjoy sports.  You're a very gifted, athletic kiddo and I can't wait to see you play again next year!!
