Weekend Recap

I'd like to first say Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law, Mica!  Thanks so much for having us over yesterday for brunch.  We really enjoyed spending time with you all & after reading your post this morning, it makes it even more special!  I hope you have a great day today and enjoy your last year in your Twenties:)

Friday night, Creag & I went to dinner at a newer restaurant downtown called Jimmy G's.  Creag & Michael had stopped in there about a month ago for a drink & Creag liked the atmosphere and had said the food looked amazing so we decided to give it a try.  We ordered an appetizer made w/ potatoes, four cheeses, caramelized onions & a poached duck egg on the top.  For dinner we shared a steak salad & then had dessert.  We were very impressed w/ the food & even got to listen to some live music while we were there.  After dinner we took a cab to the casino.  We ran into Pat, Jamie & Eric so Creag ended up at the same blackjack table as them for a bit and came out ahead.

After the Casino, we may or may not have stopped at UDF for a Sundae again!  I guess it's now our Friday night tradition after going out;)  Saturday morning, I slept in until 11 which was awesome, got up & cleaned a little while Creag ran.  He had trouble running again this weekend because of his calf so he's getting pretty discouraged about the Flying Pig Marathon.  He's going to buy a new pair of shoes & see if that helps.  If it doesn't, Tyler said over the weekend the only other option may be surgery.  Let's hope the shoes help!  I met him at Panera for lunch and then we headed to Union to pick up his anniversary gift.  I ended up giving it to him that day because I couldn't wait another week.  It was a photo book of a Boudoir Session I had done.  I'm pretty sure he loved it!  After that, we headed to the mall to do a little shopping for vacation...I got quite a few things at Forever XXI thanks to my sweet husband & his gambling winnings so I'm ready!

After the mall, we headed over to the soccer fields for Sammie's first soccer game.  It was actually a pretty decent day weather wise which we were thankful for!  Skylar & Wyatt's games were cancelled because they were scheduled to play at a different location that was too muddy.  You can see the mud in the background of this picture, it was nasty!  Her game went well.  She played good & scored a goal!

Creag had told me after I gave him his gift that one of my gifts was Family Pictures next weekend so after the game, we stopped at Walmart go pick out coordinating outfits for the kids to wear:)  On the way back to the house to pick up my phone charger before we headed to Amy's, he stopped off on the side of the road to look down into the creek to see if he could see any fish.  That was a moment that I snapped a picture & was able to really capture what a beautiful day it was.  It brought me peace at that moment & clarity how we get so busy running around, that we don't stop often enough to really smell the fresh air & take in the beauty around us.

After our little stop, we went home to grab my phone charger & then headed to Dayton to see Amy & Scott.  Amy had just moved in with Scott the night before, so we took them a little housewarming gift.  We played Phase 10 & had pizza and ended up spending the night.  I don't get to hang out with Amy nearly enough, so it was great to see her for the second weekend in a row.

We got up early on Sunday morning to head home & shower before going over to Mica & Tyler's for brunch.  We stopped on the way to pick up a Birthday Dessert from Servati's and got to their house around 10.  We did not eat breakfast at Amy's so we were starving.  They had a delicious spread & dessert was good.  It was so rich that I only think a few were able to finish their piece!  We talked about vacation next Spring, the vacation Creag & I are getting ready to go on & several other things.  It was great spending time with all of them & I really wish our kids could've been there.  Ellery & Willis are getting so big!  We talked with Ellery about her birthday that's coming up and held Willis as much as we could:)

After we left Creag went into work for a bit and I went to the grocery.  It was a nasty, cold day so I didn't enjoy it a bit!  I made Taco Chili for dinner & we watched Argo.  After the kids were dropped off by their Dad, we let them watch Skyfall with us.  We thought school would be cancelled today because of the snow, so we didn't think it was a big deal to let them stay up later than usual.  Unfortunately, it was not & on top off letting them stay up later than usual, and them being a little tired this morning, I had a dream that there was an hour delay.  It was pretty vivid, but not the case.  When I finally realized there was no delay, I got them up and they had a whole 20 minutes to get ready!  Whoops.  Thank God they made it to the bus stop on time, and now 20 minutes is now the record for them getting ready for school!  Way to start out the week, right?
