NEW ORLEANS, LA
Our Wedding Day
It's crunch time, I'm leaving work here in about 45 minutes & will not be back until after we return from vacation! I didn't get all of our vacation posts up like I had hoped, but I think I did pretty good, considering.
Today, I'm going to focus on our wedding day and then there will be a part 3 of our New Orleans trip after this one. Like I said in yesterdays post, I was sick on our wedding day. Hung over is an understatement. After Creag brought me back to the house from breakfast, I slept for the rest of the morning, into the afternoon. Thank God for our 4:30 wedding. I wouldn't have made it otherwise! After I got up, feeling a little bit better, the girls got ready on one side of the house and the boys used the other.
The guys hopped on the trolley first to head to the park and us girls followed close behind them. It was a beautiful day! Kind of on the warmer side, but nothing to complain about. I mean, it was my wedding day:) Sammie volunteered to hold my dress for most of the walk.
The ceremony was beautiful. Very peaceful and just a great moment in both of our lives. I cried tears of complete happiness saying my vows and will never forget the way Creag looked at me. We had a professional photographer that took pictures during & after our ceremony. Towards the end of the pictures, I was feeling a little ill again. Michael walked over to a family who was picnicking & got me some pretzels & a drink and that helped a little bit. We had a little bit of trouble getting a cab over to the restaurant we planned on having dinner at, The Court of Two Sisters. When we finally found one, Sam & Hank went with Creag & I and the rest of the family took a bus. Walking into the restaurant was like walking into our reception. Everyone applauded and that too is a moment that I'll never forget.
We had gotten a wedding cake, and it had been sitting at the part during our ceremony. During the bus ride to the restaurant, it took a turn for the worse & the top layer had fallen off! We cut it anyway, and it was good.
After dinner, we stepped outside of the restaurant and there were fireworks from the festival nearby. After the fireworks everyone went back to the house and Creag & I strolled around New Orleans, hand in hand in our Wedding Clothes. We got lots of congratulations from people walking by, but most of all, we just enjoyed the moment and our first night as husband & wife.
