Random Update

The above quote that I colored the other day at work for my bulletin board is only fitting with our schedule lately.  Schedules fill up fast and things tend to get really stressful, but family is what in fact "matters most".  I'm going to try to focus on that and less on the OMG how am I going to do everything that is put in front of me.  As crazy as things seem, we always find a way to make it all work.  For that, I'm grateful!

Since I've been trying to get all of our Hawaii recaps posted and finished, our Random happenings haven't been posted when they actually happen so I'm going all the way back to last Thursday.  Not yesterday, but a week before that.  Feels like forever ago, but really not.  Skylar has soccer practice Thursday nights and there's a small lake at the field so while I was watching Sky practice, Creag took the other kids fishing for a bit.   Skylar & I walked over after practice and she was able to throw in a line.

When we got home, we dug out all of the Leigh's & the grass skirt from the basement and Skylar got her outfit together for Hula Day on Friday for school.  They got a good behavior award in class and Hula Day is what the kids agreed on.  She also requested a coconut bra.  Thankfully, I don't own one because that's a little inappropriate for a 10 year old in my opinion!

Friday night, Hank had a baseball game & Sammie had soccer practice so the boys were with me at the game & the girls were with Creag at practice.  Hank hit 1 out of 2 at bats so he's still at a 500 batting average for the season.  We met up afterwards at Mica & Tyler's for Tyler's 30th Birthday bash where we all ate way too much, I was the laughing stock by putting my spoon through the bottom of my Styrofoam plate, and we got to bust open a pinata.  It was a great night and I got to cuddle with my little Willis bug.

We were up bright and early on Saturday for Soccer Games.  Skylar's was at 9AM & then Sam had one @ 12:45.  They both scored a goal in their games and played good.  Later that night was Hinsdales School Carnival so we went up to the school for a few hours.  The carnival is usually held outside, but due to rainy weather it was moved to the Gym & Cafeteria.  It was a little too crowded, but the kids had fun.

Sunday, Hank had a game scheduled but it was cancelled at the last minute due to rain so we went to Panera for lunch and then headed to Wyatt's soccer game.  He dominated & scored 3 or 4 goals!  It's awesome how much he's learned & developed since the fall of last year!

After Wyatt's game on Sunday, we drove to Dayton to my parents to celebrate my Grandpa's 85th Birthday.  It was great to see Grandpa & my Uncle Steve who was recently diagnosed w/ Stage 4 Lung Cancer.  Steve seemed in good spirits, but we're all really worried about him.  The kids had several questions about cancer on the drive home.  It's a hard subject to talk about, but it's affected our family big time with Aunt Edie, and now Steve.  The candles were put in by Wyatt & Travis, can you tell?

We drove home late Sunday night and got the kids in bed and I learned a new definition, MOM BUTT.

My sweet husband told me I had "Mom Butt" while we were in the kitchen.  He went upstairs to tuck the kids in and then texted me the definition.  When he came back down, I was doing dishes and we were laughing about it and he got sprayed in the face by the sprayer!!  I got him good let me tell you.  No one tells me I have Mom Butt!  We laughed until we cried and it was a good ending to the weekend.
